Bishop of Ljubljana from 1930 to 1959. Born in Dolintschitschach (Slovenina: Dolinčiče), Austria, in the Parish of Sankt Michael ob Bleiburg (Slovenian: Šmihel pri Pliberku) on 9 March 1883. Ordained on 21 July 1907. Designated suffragan bishop on 14 July 1929, and enthroned as bishop of Ljubljana on 17 May 1930. Fled to Austria in 1945, in exile in the United States after 1948. Buried in Lemont, Illinois on 23 November 1959. Reburied in the Ljubljana Cathedral on 13 April 2013.
