Prof. Dr. Gueorgui Naumov (born in Sofia May 18th 1923, died in Sofia March 25th 2005) was a true renaissance man with a tireless ever blossoming encyclopedic fountain like intellectually bursting mind and an seemingly endless thirst coated in a humanistic pedagogical mindset gazing at utopian horizons, for knowledge driven by a constant day dreaming for a better world. Violinist, oboist and accordionist as well, his musicianship coming from his mother, public schools music theory solfege teacher Svoboda “Boda” Naumova (1902-1978) culminated in the publication of a treatise about accordion playing in both Bulgarian and Russian languages. Radiologist, oncologist, cancerologist, founding father figure of Bulgarian medicine teaching through his anatomy study book as well as by pioneering good health habits knowledge through the first medical Bulgarian early black and white television educational programs followed by numerous medical research books in Bulgarian and German languages alike displaying masterful eloquently precise hand drawn examples of various pathologies taking from his painter father Vladimir Naumov’s (1897-1947) visual art techniques knowhow. The novelist writer he was also in his spare time brought him to produce through an inspired and enticing command of Bulgarian language story telling quality dipped in self-deprecating humor, numerous episodes depicting the early life’s colorful adventures of an itinerant rural medical general practitioner doctor. His medical volunteer calling brought him to quite distant reaches helping war ravaged populations in Korea and China. His lifelong selflessly generous support towards the professional development of his two only sons as he liked to call them, Nikolay Naumov, born in 1949 in the field of medicine and Emile Naoumoff, born in 1962 in the field of music, is an auspicious and exemplary expression of his devoted pedagogical parenting calling.
