Haki Kodra

In memoriam

Haki Kodra was born in Dibër te Madhe in 1921. After graduating in Economics at the University of Zagreb, he returned to Dibër, where he set up a large business, but was fought by the Serbs, so he left and settled in 1940 in Tirana. After the war, he worked in the economic sector until 1951. On February 19, 1951, an explosion occurred at the Embassy of the former Soviet Union in Tirana, an event known as the "Bomb at the Soviet Embassy". No one was injured in the attack, but the Albanian authorities of that time considered a group of 22 young intellectuals who were working in Tirana at the time to be guilty, including 30-year-old Haki Kodra .. Despite the lack of any evidence of guilt, he was arrested and sentenced to death. The sentence was executed on the night of February 26-27, 1951 near the village of Mënik, a few kilometers west of Tirana. The bodies were buried in a shallow grave in the field behind. (Kujto.al)
