In memoriam

Luftwaffe. 15th April 1941. 4/JG77. Messerschmitt Bf109E (5277). Sortie to Larisa. Shot down by RAF Hurricane of 33 Squadron and crashed near Larisa, Greece. Lt. Hans-Jakob Arnoldy (FF) bailed-out but died of bullet wounds to the chest. Aircraft a write-off. The VDK say "Hans-Jakob Arnoldy rests at the war cemetery in Dionyssos-Rapendoza (Greece) During the reburial work in his original burial site, he could not be positively identified, so he was buried as an "unknown soldier" in the Dionyssos-Rapendoza cemetery".
