For such a fearless fighter as Haris Gagula, one bullet was, unfortunately, enough to end his young life on the defensive of his homeland, on the front lines in Trusina on June 11, 1993, at the age of twenty-four. He left behind to grieve father Jusuf, mother Emina, brothers Adis and Admir and sisters Adisa and Aida. Unemployed, after finishing eight years of school, Haris Gagula sought a chance for a better life defending his homeland, his loved ones, his people. His heroism is the subject of retelling by his comrades-in-arms, friends and neighbors, because Haris was the type of fighter that all the armies of the world were proud of. Brave, disciplined, responsible, fearless, were just some of the qualities that this young man boasted. He never fulfilled his dream to be a free, busy, family man. He was awarded the Zlatni Ljiljan (Golden Lily). The "Golden Lily" badge is awarded to members of the Bosnian Armed Forces who excelled in armed opposition to the aggressor, contributed to the expansion of free parts of the Republic and performed several acts in which their personal courage and sacrifice were expressed.
