In memoriam

16736 Private Harry William Clark was Killed in Action on the 27th.August 1916, Aged 22, while serving with the 7th.Battalion, The Royal Berkshire Regiment. The 7th.Battalion War Diary entry on this day reported that '1 man killed, 5 wounded 2 only slightly' Harry Clark was born in Sudbury around 1894. His father was employed as a soap boiler. His younger brother Arthur Claude, [Essex Regiment] aged 19, fell 26th October 1917 and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. (Memorial ID11969569) They were sons of Henry (also known as Harry) and Annie Clark of 22 Plough Lane, Sudbury, Suffolk. Both are remembered on the Sudbury War Memorial.
