Paybook photograph of VX5474 Corporal Harvey Arnold Newnham, 2/7th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Corporal Newnham, aged 21, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 24 May 1941. He was the son of Thomas Harvey Ward Newnham and Margaret Wishart Newnham, of Burwood, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 11. He is commemorated on the Roll of Honour in Burwood Vic, also his name is located at panel 32 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial .
