Hasan Čengić was born on 30 August 1957, in Foča. Hasan Čengić was a Bosniak politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Defence Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the war, Čengić was the main fundraiser and weapons buyer for president Alija Izetbegović's administration. Čengić graduated from the Gazi Husrev - begova medresa and the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Sarajevo. Hasan Čengić worked as an imam in Stolac and Zagreb, then was the technical secretary at the Central SDA in Sarajevo, and during the aggression he was an assistant to the commander of the Supreme Staff of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was an assistant minister in the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a representative in the Parliament of the Federation and a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in two mandates. Hasan Čengić was the president of the Parliamentary Commission for Vakuf and the material strengthening of IZ in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period 2000-2010. Hasan Čengić died on 7 November 2021, at the age of 64 in Sarajevo and was buried on Čengića mezarje in Odžak - Foča - Ustikolina.
