Heinrich Edelmann

In memoriam

Belonged to Sanitäts-Truppen Kreta. He was killed by two teenagers from Asi Gonia in Agios Ioannis, who wanted to acquire some fame by participating in the Greek Resistance, before the end of the occupation, by stealing the luger of a German officer. During the assault, Heinrich was killed with his own weapon. Shortly afterwards a German vehicle appeared and the youngsters managed to escape by jumping over a wall. Heinrich was beloved amongst the local population, as he tried to cure whoever needed it.
