In memoriam
A Feldwebel and Bordschütze [air gunner] serving with 8(K) Staffel of Lehrgeschwader 1 based at catania Scicily. He died on a mission to locate the British Aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious in the Mediterranean sea, when his aircaft (Ju 88A-5; wn: 3266; L1 + CS) ran out of fuel and crashed near Cape Rizzuto, Italy. Only the Flugzeugführer [pilot], Oberfeldwebel Herbert Isachsen (1913-2003), survived. Biography compiled with the aid of Find A Grave Contributor Steve Rob .
