BLOODWORTH, of Barrowby An official intimation has been received of the accidental death, while on active service, of Corpl. H. Bloodworth, who was the youngest son of Mrs. Bloodworth, of Casthorpe Road, and previous to enlisting, about a year ago, was employed at Messrs, R. Hornsby & Sons'. His death is a serious blow to the village, as he was an earnest worker for the welfare of the parish, as was shown by the many offices which he held. He was secretary of the local Boy Scouts Association, secretary of the Nation Insurance, sidesman of the Parish Church, secretary and treasurer of the Cricket Club, and a member of the Parish Council. He was a fine example of the extent to which a man can exert influence on the life of a village, and he never failed to exercise it for good. His death is deployed by all who knew him. The following letter has been received by his mother, to whom, together with deceased relatives, practically the whole of the village extends their heartfelt sympathy:- "Dear Madam, It is with sincerest regret that I write to inform you of the accidental death of your son Henry. He was accidentally shot while on detachment with his section. The whole Company mourns the loss of a steady, honest, upright man, a good soldier, and a cheery comrade. He was a first-class soldiers, and a fine man, in whom every confidence could be placed. Accept, madam, my sincere sympathy for your great loss, and rest assured that all that can be done for the departed will be done here. Yours very sincerely, J. Arthur Warburton, Captain R.E."
