Paybook photograph of VX43000 Gunner Henry Colquhoun Whitson, 3rd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Whitson, aged 25, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 29 May 1941. He was the son of Leslie and Mimie Whitson, and the husband of Kathleen May Whitson, of Mortlake, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10.
