Paybook photograph of VX46154 Gunner Henry Ernest Whitbourne, 3rd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Whitbourne, aged 32, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 29 May 1941. He was the son of Henry Ernest and Jessie Whitbourne, and the husband of Ivy Linda Pearl Whitbourne, of Caulfield, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10.
