Son of Harry Veit and Alice Lawdey (BDM SA ref: Book/Page: 592/5) Of 42, Austral Terrace, Malvern, South Australia. He died aged 19 (single) and was from Malvern SA (BDM SA ref: Book/Page: 403/97) ∼ THE LATE PRIVATE H. G. VEIT. Cerebo-spinal meningitis has taken yet another valuable life, that of Private Henry Gordon Veit, aged 19 years, the son of Mrs. J. V. Larsen, of Austral-terrace, Malvern. He was a member of the 7th Field Ambulance, and was taken ill on January 5, after he had spent four months in the trenches. He died in a hospital at Egypt on February 5. He was secretary of the Young Men's Bible Class at the Manthorpe Memorial Church, and he also belonged to the Unley Boys' Club. Private Veit, prior to enlisting, was employed at "The Chronicle" office as a compositor, having been with the firm for over six years.
