Luftwaffe. 6th April 1941. 8/KG3. Dornier Do17 (2563). Sotie to Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Shot down by fighters and crashed near Kac, 10 km north-east of Novi Sad, Yugoslavia. Uffz. Heinz-Werner Neuwirth (FF) killed. Gefr. Kurt Reschke (B) killed. Uffz. Herbert Alfred Schlitter (Bf) killed. Uffz. Walter Brathuhn (Bs) bailed-out and captured (returned). Aircraft 5K+DS lost. The VDK say "Herbert Alfred Schlitter is recorded by name at the Belgrade/Beograd war cemetery prepared by the Volksbund. Further information about his grave location can be obtained from the Service Department".
