Politician. He gained recognition as a politician who was known for his firm advocacy for the introduction of Muslims as the sixth nation in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and for the addition of a sixth torch to the Yugoslavian coat of arms to represent these citizens as equals. Critics claim that he was one of the most significant Bosniaks of the twentieth century. He was one of the founders of the Muslim Democratic Organization. During World War I, he served in the Fourth Bosnian and Herzegovinian Infantry Regiment in Italy. He was wounded in combat. Many of his professional papers were confiscated by the authorities, and for his 1933 publications in the newspaper, "Putokaz," he served one and half years in prison for political reasons. He was the president of the municipality of Mostar in 1935, a senator of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the president of the "Vakuf-Mearif Assembly" in Sarajevo until 1945, a fighter against the Cvetković- Maček, anti-fascist, and member of the 3rd session of "AVNOJ" and "ZANOBIH." At the 3rd session of "AVNOJ," Ćišić submitted the amendment on Bosniak national rights, which was rejected. He was a member of the Federal Council until his death. During World War II, he was a signatory of the 1941 ''Resolution of the Mostar Citizens,'' which criticized the persecution, property theft, killing, and deportation of Serb and Jewish populations to the concentration camps of death by the Pro-Nazi Quisling government. He lost his two sons, Midhat and Husref Cisic, during the anti-fascist fight of BiH in World War II. He authored many books and studies. Originally, he was buried in one of Mostar's old Muslim cemeteries. After the usurpation of the cemetery by Communist authorities, the remains of Husaga Ćišić were transferred to the Sutina City Cemetery in Mostar. Author Irma Maric published his biography and memoirs.
