Ibrahim Tepić

Ibrahim Tepić was a Bosnian-Herzegovinian historian. Tepić was born on August 4, 1947 in Srebrenica. He was the head of the History Department, the president of the Society of Historians of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the secretary of the editorial board of the Yearbook of the Society of Historians of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tepić was also the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo in the period 1994-1997. Ibrahim Tepić published over 40 bibliographic and scientific units, the most significant of which is the work "Bosnia and Herzegovina in Russian sources 1856-1878". Based on original archival materials, in this monograph Ibrahim Tepić processes the reports of the Russian consuls in Sarajevo, Mostar and Dubrovnik, which contain information on the position of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Ottoman Empire, the organization of the Ottoman government and its functioning, the tax system, finances, the economy, the army and the police. as well as the presence of Russia in the cultural and educational life of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Together with his colleague Zijad Šehić, he researched materials for the historical atlas of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but unfortunately he did not see the end of this project. The atlas was published in 2002 under the title "Bosnia and Herzegovina on geographic and historical maps". He died on November 4, 1997 in Sarajevo and was buried in the harem of the Alipasha Mosque in Sarajevo.
