Nobility, Saint. (Name also spelt Emeric.) He was the only surviving child of Stephen I and Gisela of Bavaria. His only other sibling, Otto, died young, maybe even before Imres birth. According to the legend, he received an extremely religious education from Gellért, Bishop of Csanád. His father wanted him to rule jointly with him, but this plan was never carried out. Imre was injured while hunting for a boar and died. Shortly after his burial his grave became the destination of many pilgrims. His father died seven years later and was buried beside him. In 1083, Imre, Stephan and Gellért of Csanád were canonized by Gregory VII.
