Greek: Ιωάννης Παπαθεοδώρου Lawyer and politician. Mayor of Athens 1975-1978. He was the first mayor of the Greek capital after the fall of the junta. He studied law, specialising in labour law, and during the Occupation was active in the Resistance. He was first elected municipal councillor in elections held in 1954 and was first preference municipal councillor in the elections of 1959 and 1964. He was continuously elected councillor for 25 years. He was general representative of the Union of Mediterranean Cities and Board member Union World Twinned Cities. He was also chairman of the Central Union of Municipalities and Communities. Elected mayor of Athens in 1975 and took office on June 6 of that year. He greatly restructured Athens. He left the mayoral post at the end of his term on December 31, 1978. He died suddenly in 1983 and was buried at the City of Athens' expense in the First Cemetery. The grave was provided by the municipality.
