Iva Vičič

In memoriam

Daughter of Emil Vičič and Ivana Svete Vičič. From the Minče (Sln. Pri Minčetovih) farm. First name also Ivana, Ivka. On July 12th, 1942 a group of Partisans, including some from the local area, attacked the Vičič house. Emil Vičič was shot and killed during the attack, and his daughter Ivka was wounded by a dumdum bullet. She was treated in an Italian military ambulance, but died two hours later. A joint funeral for the Lončar and Vičič families was held in Borovnica and they were buried in the village cemetery. After the war, the communist government confiscated the Vičič family’s house and land, cut the grandfather’s pension, and created educational and employment difficulties for the surviving daughters.
