Ivan Glasić was born in Ciglenica, Garešnica, Croatia on April 26th, 1905. Ivan was the child of Tomo Glasić (b. Ciglenica) and Kata Kosihajda (b. Palešnik). Ivan married Mara "Marija" Pernar (b. Ciglenica) in Ciglenica on January 21st, 1923. Ivan and Mara had three children: sons Djuro "Duka", Andrija "Jandra" and daughter, Dragica. Towering at 6"4, Ivan was a farmer whom practiced husbandry in his village. Ivan made a written pledge with other villagers in the area to construct a chapel at the Ciglenica cemetery, a promise his daughter Dragica honoured in adulthood. At age 52, Ivan died of a heart attack. At the time of his passing Ivan was survived by his wife, Marija, his 3 children Djuro, Andrija and Dragica, his 2 daughter-in-laws Slavica and Roza, his son-in-law Alojz and his 5 grandchildren Branko, Maria, Stanislav, Ivan and Tomislav.
