In memoriam
From Hruševo Selo. "In the hamlet of Selo, which is part of the village of Hruševo, a deserter that had been forced to join the Partisans was hiding at the [Martinovec] farm. The Partisans were informed of this by their people on the ground and one night they burst into the village and found the unlucky deserter hiding in a ceramic wood-fired stove. They tossed a grenade into the stove, which completely tore the man apart. Then they forced the farmer, Lojze Hudnik ; his three brothers Matija , Janez , and Polde ; [Janez's] wife Albina Hudnik ; the farmer's [two] sisters Frančiška ... and Ivanka ; and the farmer's elderly mother, Frančiška Hudnik , to go with them into the woods. They left only the farmer's wife and two small children at home. The communists then cruelly murdered all of the members of the Hudnik family that they had taken, [eight] people, in the forest. Lojze's wife [was then killed at the home], and her father in Dravlje took the two small children. Two days later the Italians arrived in the village and they burned down the Hudnik house and barn." Corrected from: Matija Škerbec. 1957. Krivda rdeče fronte , vol. 2. Cleveland: Author, p. 48. The bodies of the family, from Hruševo no. 21, were initially hidden in two mass graves near Babna Gora known as "Grob Martinčičeve družine" located at 46° 3' 35.08" N × 14° 22' 42.69" E.
