He was a Croatian economist, politician and academician. He held various senior governmental posts in the Socialist Republic of Croatia including 6th Speaker of the Croatian Parliament from April 1974 – 1978, 7th Prime Minister of Croatia from December 1971 – April 1974 and 54th mayor of Split, Croatia from 1965 to 1967.
