Croation Chess Master and Author Born in Kislőd, Hungary, Izidor settled in Karlovac, Croatia with his wife and son. He was a founder of the Karlovac Chess Club and Croatian Chess Federation. In 1912, he organized the first International chess tournament held in the Balkans. Izidor published several works pertaining to chess, but is best known for his book, "Šahovska abeceda" (Chess alphabet.) Because he was Jewish, he was sent to Jasenovac Concentration Camp where he was murdered in 1942.
