Paybook photograph of VX14000 Lieutenant James Gilbert Mann, 3rd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Lieutenant Mann, aged 27, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 29 May 1941. He was the son of Frederick Wollaston Mann and Adeline Mary Mann, of South Yarra, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10. He is commemorated on the Roll of Honour in Melbourne Vic, also his name is located at panel 21 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
