Janez (Ivan) Vidmar

In memoriam

Janez (a.k.a. Ivan) Vidmar was the parish priest in Dobrova from 1861 to 1873. He was born in Spodnja Idrija on 13 April 1810 and was ordained on 13 August 1837. Prior to coming to Dobrova, he served in Idrija (1838), Lašče (1838-1841), Koprivnek near Kočevje (1847), Ustija (1847-1849), and Črni Vrh near Polhov Gradec (1849-1861). He became the parish priest at Dobrova on 8 January 1861. There he suffered a stroke and was unable to carry out his duties, and his duties were therefore performed by Žiga Bohinc.
