Jernej Babnik

In memoriam

Jernej Babnik was the parish priest in Dobrova from 1875 to 1893. He was born at Goriče no. 2 in the Parish of Sora and ordained on 30 July 1854. He served in Kamna Gorica until 1860, then in Železniki until 1870, and then in Unec until 1874. He was transferred to Dobrova after the death of Father Janez (Ivan) Vidmar (1810-1875). The church was renovated during his tenure in Dobrova, a new sexton's house was built, and other improvements were made. Source: Anton Lesjak, Zgodovina dobrovske fare, 1893, pp. 132-133.
