John Patrick

In memoriam

John, born 1899 in Cumbernauld, son of Alexander and Annie, brother of Agnes, resided at Langland Cottage, Cumbernauld, according to the 1901 Scottish Census. The family later resided at East Blairlinn, Cumbernauld Station, Cumbernauld. Private Patrick enlisted in Stirling with the Cameron Highlanders. He was making his way along the trench, to a dug-out, when a stray bullet from a Bulgarian machine gun, which was firing at our low flying planes, hit him in the back and penetrated his intestines. He died on the 2nd of August 1918.
