Son of Václav Ocásek and Anna Straková From records, Josef was born in House #36 in the village of Skomelno (near Plzeň) in present day Czechia. Around 1880, the family moved to the mining village of present day Steierdorf-Anina, Romania, which was then primarily a German speaking settlement in Austria-Hungary (the Dual Monarchy). After arrival he married Anna Ječmen (from Nýřany, Plzeň-North) on 20-NOV-1881 and eight children were born in Anina between 1882 and 1903. Frederick (1882-1953) August (1886-1957) Anna (1887-1965) Josef (1889-1952) Josefa (1893-1897) Johanna (1899-1982) Frank Richard (1901-1980) Charles Daniel (1903-1963) Josef died in February 1906 and a few months later his widow Anna immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio with the remaining children that were still living at home.
