Private 9509 1/6th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers. Died of wounds, aged 36 years. Husband of Emily Hoyle (nee Howarth) married 1902, 6, Fishwick Street, Rochdale. Father of Emily (b.1903), Joseph (b.8.1.1904), Robert (b.7.4.1907) and Ernest. (b.23.7.1909) Born and enlisted at Rochdale. Employed as a clerk, at Tomlinsons' (Oldham Road) Rochdale. Brother of Gunner James T. HOYLE, who was killed in action and who is buried at Klein-Vierstraat Cemetery, Heuvelland, Belgium. Grave reference III. A. 1
