Joseph's birth was registered in early 1901 making him born in 1900 not 1905 as he indicated on his WWII enrolment papers. He would have been too old for military service in WWII so he made his year of birth 1905 when he enrolled to appear 5 years younger. He also served in WWI, enlisting as Joseph William Quinn (his mother's maiden name) in February 1918 which confirms his year of birth was not 1905 as he would have been only 13 years old then if that was the case and much too young to enlist. He gave his date of birth as 1/1/1900 on his WWI enrolment papers.
