Josip Ivanković, a Croatian composer, poet, and musician, left an indelible mark on the country's music scene. Born in 1949 in Čađavica near Slatina, Ivanković's creative journey spanned several decades, and he made significant contributions to various musical genres. In the early 1970s, Ivanković began his musical career as a singer-songwriter, crafting humorous chansons. His talent extended beyond lyrics; he skillfully played the guitar and composed melodies. In 1978, he collaborated with the band "Prva ljubav," Yugoslavia's first teen group. It was during this time that he penned the iconic Dinamo Zagreb anthem, "Plavi, plavi." However, Ivanković's most enduring legacy lies with the formation of Zlatni Dukati, a tamburitza ensemble. He served as the driving force behind this legendary group, which became synonymous with Croatian folk music. Ivanković's compositions resonated with audiences across Yugoslavia. His songs were performed by renowned artists. Notable works include pieces for the Zagrebfest music festival, the Dinamo Zagreb anthem, and the beloved "Klinci Mandolinci." His collaboration with Zlatni Dukati produced a rich repertoire that celebrated Croatian heritage and culture. Beyond his musical achievements, Ivanković's impact extended to literature. He was a member of the Croatian Writers' Society and the Croatian Society of Composers.
