In memoriam

Croatian Politician. He served as the second Prime Minister of Croatia from 24 August 1990 to 17 July 1991. He was born to a well-off working-class family. At 18, he joined the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ). During World War II, he joined the Yugoslav Partisans and was arrested on one occasion. During his tenure as Prime Minister, Croatia voted to secede from Yugoslavia on 25 June 1991, thus becoming an independent country. When he left office, the Croatian War of Independence was already in full-swing.
