Greek name: Καίσαρ Ρώμας Soldier and politician; son of Count Candiano Roma. The Roma or De Roma were a noble family of Zante (Zakynthos), originating in Sicily as De Regolo ή Regoli. He went to Athens, where he lived in the house of his uncle and Counsellor of State Georgios, and enrolled at the Military Academy. At the age of 23 he became an officer in the engineers. He went to Paris and continued his studies, while he also undertook archaeological and architectural studies. He returned with the rank of lieutenant of the general staff. He taught as a lecturer at the Military School and became ADC to King Otto, whom he accompanied into exile to Munich, and remained there for some time. He returned from Munich and retired from the Army with the rank of major. He was nominated in the elections of 1892 and was elected as a Member of Parliament for Zakynthos, but died suddenly a few days after his election.
