Kalliopi was the daughter of Spyros Antoniatis and Katina (last name unknown). Her family was originally from Messina, Greece but escaped to Alexandria during the 1821 Greek/Turkish War. They lived there until sometime after her birth. After the war, the Greek government hired her father to teach the uneducated Greeks and to create the first universities. This explains why she was educated, in an era that most women could not even spell their name. People that remember her described her as a tough and a mean-spirited person. In about 1885 she married Konstantios, (son of Panayiotis and Eleni Kontos). The couple had 7 children: ~Eleni "Helen" Kontos 1886–1970 ~Peter "Panagiotis" Kontos 1888–1956 ~Spyros Kontos 1889–1946 ~Apostolos "Paul" Kontos 1889–1980 ~Antonios "Tony" Anthony" Kontos Kondus 1893–1966 ~Marigo Kontos 1894–1984 ~Stavias Kontos 1897–1957
