Gunner Horne, aged 26, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 20 May 1941. He was the son of Ralph and Jessie Horne, of Rockdale, NSW. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10. Laurie Horne's name is located at panel 20 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial
