Service No: 16646. Private, King's Shropshire Light Infantry. Awards: Victory/British War Medal. Son of William and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Lewis) Halford, of 6, Field Houses, Dawley, Salop. He enlisted at Wellington, Shropshire between the 4th-6th January 1915. In January 1918, the 8th King's Shropshire Light Infantry, were working on 2nd Line reserve trenches on the Salonika front and came under regular shellfire and adding to their hardships the weather was bitterly cold with heavy snow. During this time Lewis was killed in action.
