Formerly a textile worker, Bdr Caldwell enlisted at East St Kilda, Vic, on 25 October 1939 and served in Greece, where he was killed in action on 23 April 1941, aged 23. Lionel Allen Caldwell's name is located at panel 15 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial. Son of Robert Allan and May Elizabeth Caldwell; husband of Jean Buchanan Caldwell, of Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia.
