Lorenz (Lorenc) “Lovro” Jäger

Philanthropist, great industrialist (lumbar) and a modest man. Apart from employing hundreds of people in Slavonia area at that time, he worked on improving their wellbeing and quality of life by building schools, medical centres, pubs and pharmacies for them. He continued philanthropic work long after his industry work ceases and his greatness is evident in building many schools, hospitals, churches, endless donations for the poor and particularly poor women. He is also a founder of many social enterprises in the area. He is an honour recipient both from the city of Osijek (Croatia) and Franz Joseph 1, the Emperor of Austria. One of the streets in Osijek is named after him.
