NURSING SISTER L. JORDAN SCOTTISH WOMEN'S HOSPITAL 6TH MARCH 1915 AGE 36 GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN

A Nursing Sister of the Scottish Women's Hospital who, whilst tending wounded Serbian soldiers during WW1, gave her life fighting a battle against typhus that was sweeping accross Serbia. At its height this epidemic was taking 1,500 lives per day. The people of Serbia give thanks and honour in commemorating her and her colleagues annually. In the 2020 fight against Coronavirus she is to have the temporary hospital set up at the SEC, Glasgow named in honour of her memory: NHS Louisa Jordan. Also commemorated on the Buckhaven, Methil and Innerleven War Memorial, Wellesley Road, Methil.
