Moldovan Nobility. Born Doamna Maria Voichiţa, she was the daughter of Voivoda Radu III and granddaughter of Vlad III the Tepez of the Draculesti dynasty. She is known by historians as a woman of great temperament and political acumen, so much so as to influence the decisions of Prince Stephen III of Moldavia (Saint of the Orthodox Church with the name Ștefan cel Mare) of whom she was the fourth wife.
