Marija Fajdiga

This is her memorial at Podolnica. For her memorial at Horjul, see: Marija Fajdiga On the night of 20 November 1942 the Partisans attacked three houses in Zaklanec. From the Dolinar farm they abducted Janez Dolinar (65 years old) his wife Marija (57) and their two daughters Ivana (19) and Bernarda (16). From the Zalaznik farm they took Ivana Zalaznik (59) and her daughter Katarina (25). From the Fajdiga farm (Zaklanec no. 10) they took the family's daughter Marija (22). All four of the girls were unmarried. The women were taken to the Broad Creek Gorge (Sln. Široki potok; about 3 km WSW of Dobrova) while Janez Dolinar was forced to transport the plundered possessions and slaughtered animals from his farm to the Bezenica Valley. The Partisans beat him when his oxen, used to hauling manure to the field, turned the wrong way. All seven were killed in the Broad Creek Gorge at two different sites. The bodies of the Dolinars and Marija Fajdiga were disinterred on 19 April 1943 and reburied in the cemetery on 20 April.
