Marija Klimpf Kalič

Marija was born at Babno Polje #14 to parents Jožef Klimpf (1846-1937) and Marija Troha (1849-1929). On 3 September 1894 in Babno Polje, she married Josip Lipovac (who was born 1869 in Kranjci), and together they had one son, who was also named Josip (1896-1981). Josip died in 1897, and in 1898 she married her second husband, Jožef Kalič (born 1870 in Novi Kot), in Babno Polje. They lived in Novi Kot #12 and had three sons and a daughter: Franc (1899-1997), Anton (1902-?), Marija (1904-1994), and Valentin (1908-?). Her husband Jožef Kalič died in Slavonia (part of eastern Croatia) in 1930. Her son Josip Lipovac moved to the US in 1914, and her sons Anton and Valentin moved to France in the 1920s. In 1942, the Italians burned Novi Kot and interned the residents at the Rab Concentration Camp, and this included Marija Kalič.
