Marin Gurdulic was born in Vrisnik Island of Hvar in the former Yugoslavia (now Croatia) in the 1890s. He was father to seven children, 5 brothers and two sisters: Jelica, Katica, Ante, Jurko, Slavko, Vlado and Evo (Ivan). He was a builder and wine maker. He was brother to Jakov who emigrated to Perth Western Australia in 1928 and wife Grace and two children, Tom and Peter followed in 1933. Marin was a rock to his family and instilled in all his children the values of hard work, character and good morals and support for the family. He was much loved and respected by all his children.
