Martin Tomšiéc

Disclaimer: All information on Martin his wife and children that remained in Slovenia came from a woman in Slovenia. I am confident the information is correct but I cannot be 100% as I did not collect the information myself. Martin and or MatthiasTomšiéc/Tomsic (records appear with both names) was the son of Maria Muhic & Martin Tomšiéc born on Aug 31, 1830 in Žviréce, Hinje, Žužemberk, Slovenia. Martin married Agnes Hren on Feb 15, 1860 in Hinje. Together they had 11 children 6 boys & 5 girls. Maria, Jacobus, Joannes, Franciscus, Ignatius, Margarita, Agnes, Josephus, Francisca, Bartholomaus & Anna. Out of his 11 children 5 passed away young. Joannes age 20, Ignatius 16 days old, Margarita age 3, Agnes 9 months & Josephus 6 months old. So far I know of 3 that came to the United States Franciscus (Frank), Francisca (Frances) & Jernej (Jerry). Franciscus came 1st in 1894 and changed his name to Frank Tomsic (sometimes last name listed as Thomas). Next came Francisca somewhere between 1900-1902 who changed her name to Frances Tomsic. Frances married Fortunat Rus in Cleveland, OH in 1903. Fortunat changed the spelling of Rus to Russ Jernej came to US before 1904. In 1904 he married Katarina Plut in Cleveland, Ohio she passed away in 1932 he then married his second wife Rose Gregorich in 1935. Martin passed away on Jan 6, 1908 at the age of 77 in Hinje, Žužemberk, Slovenia
