Max Blecher (September 8, 1909 – May 31, 1938) was a Romanian writer known for his introspective and existential literary works. Born in Botoșani, Romania, into a Jewish family, Blecher spent much of his life battling spinal tuberculosis, which confined him to bed for many years. Despite his illness, Blecher maintained correspondence with major literary figures of his time, including André Breton and André Gide. Blecher's literary contributions, though limited due to his early death at the age of 28, are highly regarded. His most notable works include " Întâmplări în irealitatea imediată " (1936), a semi-autobiographical novel that explores the boundaries between reality and unreality, and "I nimi cicatrizate " (1937), which draws from his experiences in sanatoriums and examines the relationship between the body and the self.
