In memoriam

He was born on the 4th of June 1886 at North Curry, Somerset, and was baptised on the 18th of July 1886 at St Thomas' Church, Cothelstone, Somerset. Abram was the son of Samuel Mountstephen (1854-1898) and Elizabeth Mountstephen nee Hart (1859-1937). ​His siblings were: 1. Ellen Mountstephen (1884-1919) - who entered domestic service as a Kitchenmaid and was employed by the Wilkinson family of Bradford Lodge, Bradford on Tone. She married William Burge in 1911. 2. Flora Mountstephen (b.1889) - In 1921, at Taunton, she married Frank Hake. By 1891 the family were residing at North Petherton, but following his Father's death in 1898 Abram moved to reside at Red Lane, Pitminster, with his widowed mother, who worked as a Laundress, and his sister; Flora. Here he gained work as 'Gardener's Help'. By 1911 Abram, together with his widowed Mother, had moved to reside in Milverton. Here he worked as a Domestic Chauffeur. On the 28th of May 1913, at St Michael's Church, Milverton, he married Emily Cornish (1885-1961), and they resided at Fore Street, Milverton. In WWI Abram enlisted into the Army Service Corps as a Private (service # M2/181279) in the 688th Motor Transport Company. They were deployed to Greece in 1915 during the Salonika Campaign, and provided supply columns to the Serbian Forces in North Macedonia. Abram died, aged 33, on the 7th of November 1918 (circumstances unknown). He was buried at Skopje British Cemetery, North Macedonia. Plot H. 11.
