In memoriam

The tenth of eleven children born to Jožef Adamič (born in Velika Slevica, parish of Velike Lašče in 1802, died 1855) and Marija Verbič Adamič (1807-1846). After Marija's death, Jožef married Marija Kavčič (1818-1882) and had five more children. Avgust became a teacher, like his father. He completed his education in 1863 and received his first permanent appointment in 1872. He married Katarina Brus on 22 February 1873. He was musically talented; he taught singing in school, played the organ in church, and was a self-taught composer. However he did not publish any of his music and he destroyed the manuscripts.
