In memoriam

Sacred to the memory of Ellen B. Jackson of Burton on Trent, England who was accidentally drowned while bathing in the sea at Corfu October 6 1861 aged 19 years God took her from the stran- ger land and gave her a home not made by hands Eternal in the heavens. All that was so fair to mortal eyes The mortal frame in cold obstruction lies But the gentle soul from toil and strife Has passed away to immortal life. Her flesh shall slumber in the ground Till the last trumpet's joyful sound Then burst the chains with sweet surprise And in her Saviour's image rise.
