In memoriam

Herbert Reeve was a pre-war regular soldier who served out in India as a Lance Corporal (No.8757) with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment. He was present on the occasion of the Delhi Durbar in 1911 and then saw service during the Great War on the Western Front from 6th November 1914 with the British Expeditionary Force also serving with the Indian Corps. Having been promoted to Sergeant, he transferred to the 7th Service Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment, but was reported as missing in action in Salonica during the Battle of Doiran on 25th April 1917. Having no known grave he is commemorated by name on the Doiran Memorial. He was Aged 29 at the time of his death. Herbert was the son of Mr F.W. Reeve, of 1 Sycamore Cottage, Britannia Road, Ipswich, Suffolk.
